Workshop on Barcoding of Deep-Sea Organisms
The Census of Abyssal Marine Life "CeDAMar" in cooperation with the Marine Barcode of Life Initiative "MarBoL" are organizing a workshop to promote molecular barcoding of deep-sea organism and enhance cooperation between the Census of Marine Life and the Barcode of Life projects.
Workshop on DNA barcoding of deep-sea organisms May 13th - 18th 2008 held at the DZMB in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
We invite all participants
to bring ethanol fixed tissue or specimens for practical training in
barcoding your specific taxa. If you already work on CO I sequences,
please bring your own data for introductory exercises in the Barcode of
Life Database (BoLD). Please let us know for scheduling which and how
much tissue/specimens you would like to bring to the workshop (-->
fill in specimen data sheet). As you can see in the program,
the practical demonstration will allow you to produce barcode data in
collaboration with the big labs in Washington and Guelph. The workshop
is made possible by generous support of the Alfred Sloan Foundation to
the Census of Marine Life and the Consortium for the Barcode of Life.
