International Deep-Sea Copepod Workshop (Calanoida) 28 November – 1 December 2005

Altogether 31 participants from 14 nations had the possibility to share the knowledge of the copepod specialists from Oldenburg and Senckenberg and to profit from the excellent lodging facilities and equipment at the DZMB.

The course on taxonomy and systematics of deep-sea Harpacticoida included lectures, practical work with authentic deep-sea material and support with the determination of the participants’ own problematic specimens. Besides 3 scientists from the DZMB another 3 lecturers from the University of Oldenburg from the working group of Prof. H.K. Schminke were invited and contributed with their expertise.

Directly after this course another group of young scientists was invited to the DZMB to study new developments in the taxonomy of deep-sea Calanoida under the guidance of Dr. K. Schulz from the DZMB Hamburg.
